On a small, rural industrial estate – within a unit dedicated to the making of top-quality sauces and stocks – this industrially located chef’s table makes an unusual venue for one of the better meals in the country. Over five hours, you experience a 14-course tasting menu with the chefs on hand to explain the sourcing and techniques used at each stage. Feedback is not vast, but continues to rate it as “exceptional all-round”.

“A true gem” – chef-patron Mitch Mitchell’s utterly unlikely venture, located within a factory unit on an industrial estate that manufactures sauces and stocks. The 14-course tasting menu (Fri/Sat night only) caused Giles Coren to invoke Noma no less, and reporters this year all concurred that it is “an experience not to be missed”. The “only tiny issue is who you sit next to, as your neighbour could be totally loud and full of self-importance – but this place deserves a star at least!”

“Utterly outstanding”“My best meal of 2022… I cannot believe that the chef runs this restaurant almost as a ‘hobby’”. Chef-owner Mitch Mitchell presides over this unusual venture: a professional kitchen within a small factory unit on an industrial estate whose main purpose is the manufacture of stocks and sauces for top retailers and the restaurant trade. The website promises that its 14-course tasting menu is ‘an up close and personal dining event like no other’ and our reports would concur with Giles Coren’s adulatory 2020 review in which he compared results to Noma and El Bulli.
