Harden's survey result
Summary
“An incredible find” for seafood lovers – a modern, glass-fronted pierside outfit with views across the waters from which the menu is sourced. Run by the MacLeod family for more than 25 years, it is “exceptionally good and very busy” – the sort of place you “have to keep on going back to”.
Summary
“Great local seafood” is the USP of the MacLeod family’s operation, perched in a “lovely position” on a pier overlooking the waters which provide all their shellfish. By most accounts everything is “well cooked”, although some reporters feel the “large modern restaurant lacks a bit of atmosphere”.
Summary
“Spanking fresh shellfish”, “fabulous location”, “quick and friendly service, lively atmosphere, with views straight over pier” – this glass-fronted modern outfit (the name means ‘fish’ in Gaelic) is popular for good reason, and “well worth a visit while in Oban”.
Summary
A fantastically popular “presence on the North Pier at Oban”, where it perches in a glass box, this venue is famous for its “superb” fresh fish and seafood (the name is Gaelic for ‘fish’). Be warned, though, you may have to “queue even on a Monday night” (and parents take heed, “children under the age of 12 are barred from 5:45 pm onwards”).
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"This was a lockdown heaven for me and i really wanted to love it again but there was something missing this time. We had a late lunch but the place felt tired and a bit lack lustre. I had always remembered the gratin potatoes served with the halibut and scallops as absolute dream food, on my list of all time great dishes, well they've changed the recipe and not for the best, extreme dissapointment on my behalf. Seafood is delicious but it's just lacking something. Having said all this the oysters were divine."
