This “friendly family bistro serving classic” Breton galettes, seafood and cider has been a fixture near Richmond Bridge for 35 years, and is for many local reporters “a go-to restaurant for lunch or dinner” – whether at one of the “far tables which overlook the Thames” or in the “private room upstairs, ideal for parties”. In early 2023 founder Lindsay Wotton put the business up for sale so she could retire.

“Authentic Breton galettes and cider, and excellent seafood” are the USP at this “cheap ’n’ cheerful” bistro near Richmond Bridge, which celebrates its 35th anniversary this year. As an independent, it stands out in an area increasingly dominated by chains.

For a relatively “cheap ’n’ cheerful” meal in the posh ‘burb of Richmond that’s a little different, this characterful café-restaurant near Richmond Bridge brings a little Breton style to a meal, with its galettes (savoury and sweet) and ciders. One or two tables have a river view too.

“One of the mainstays of Richmond over many years” – this “lovely little bistro” near the bridge provides “a touch of Brittany with its galettes (savoury and sweet) and cidre bouche (though they also do offer a wider menu as well”); added marks for the “river view (if you ask for it)”.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"Has changed since my last visit with wider menu and less pancakes. Generally a good meal although my guests mentioned that their snails were not hot enough. I plan a repeat visit. "
