“An excellent venue for a meal before a performance at Richmond Theatre” – this “good value” Italian restaurant near the station has long been a mainstay of the area. Top Tips – set menus are a feature for lunch and pre-theatre, and the wine list is extensive.

“The best Italian in the area”, say fans of this “buzzy” trattoria and bar on Richmond’s main drag, which now has “a new covered terrace, a legacy of lockdown”. The “dishes are imaginative”, the “service always welcoming”, and there’s “a reasonably priced all-Italian wine list”. Very handy for the Orange Tree Theatre – and Richmond station.

The well-priced pre-show menu is popular with Richmond’s theatre-goers at this “excellent local Italian” – handy for both the Orange Tree and Richmond Theatres – it’s a “calm and pleasant” standby for “well-cooked cuisine”.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"We went for a pre matinee meal, and were delighted. There is an excellent 'day' short menu that is really good value, and which were all options were tried by our five, with great pleasure. Our wine choices , by the glass, were pronounced good. The waiting staff (not Italian) were charming. There is a large out door area for al fresco dining, but not on a cold late autumn day!"
