Harden's survey result
Summary
This “beautiful hotel with gorgeous grounds”, a 200-year-old country house in the Highlands, “family-run” for the past two decades, is a really “fabulous place to stay and eat”, with “amazing food” served with a pleasing level of formality. The “delicious, inventive food is made from the best local ingredients”, while “service is attentive but discreet”.
For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Coul House Hotel Restaurant Diner Reviews
"This is charming old hotel set in expansive grounds. The restaurant is slightly non-descript. Generally the food was good. The crab salad was a huge disappointment. Tinned and tasteless crab strewn over a lack lustre lettuce salad. This should have been the star of the show, at the price. Most other dishes were fairly mediocre. Not unenjoyable just lacking inspiration."
