Born as a Shambles Market stall in 2015 (the stall is still going strong), Tarik Abdeladim’s venture branched out into this bricks-and-mortar incarnation three years later. It wins praise for “very enjoyable North African food” with “plenty of interesting sharing options” and Brew York’s branded Los Moros pale ale and lager to wash it down. Top Tip – “sit downstairs if you can”.

“North African-inspired deliciousness” wins universal acclaim for the market stall Tarik Abdeladim opened in 2015, and the restaurant that followed three years later in Grape Lane. Much of the produce is sourced from nearby Yorkshire farms, and Brew York has even produced branded Los Moros pale ale and lager to complement the flavours of its food.

“A good find” for its “authentic Moroccan street food” – Tarik Abdeladim started out with a stall in Shambles Market, which he still has, before opening two years ago. “The grub is still great value”.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

ate two wraps from the shambles square mark...

"ate two wraps from the shambles square market stall. so not a full review of the restaurant. limited selection - that is fine, it's a stall. but maybe that limits what they can show? but it makes me wonder about rave reviews for the food truck. has the offer changed? fallafel very good. chicken good. feel like salad a little poor and not as seasoned or as flavoured as both could have been. was expecting a little more based on reviews - in menu and flavour. a bit disappointed as I hoped for more of what the review of the restaurant promised - a vibrant van punching flavour and authenticity. we have time to go to the restaurant, but would wonder if it would be worth the effort? as an ambiance. market itself is a bit dirty. need a crew of people cleaning. nice to see bustle. and people. but best get a grip on environment."
