Featured East Sheen Restaurants
1. The Victoria
British, Modern restaurant in East Sheen
10 West Temple Sheen - SW14
“Love this pub”, hailed by fans (often parents) for providing “one of the best Sunday lunches” in this part of southwest London, just outside Richmond Park in East Sheen. Over the years, TV chef Paul Merrett has transformed the rambling Victorian tavern into a boutique hotel with a large garden and spacious conservatory for dining.
2. The Plough
British, Traditional restaurant in East Sheen
42 Christ Church Rd - SW14
This attractive eighteenth-century inn is a short stroll from Sheen Gate and a good option following a walk in Richmond Park (especially in summer on the terrace). On the downside, “the cooking can be a bit hit and miss” – it’s “under new management” since Fuller’s fell out with the previous landlord a couple of years back, “so perhaps hasn’t found its stride yet”.
3. Black Salt
Indian restaurant in Sheen
505 - 507 Upper Richmond Road West - SW14
“Oh, you lucky punters of East Sheen… rejoice!” – this “unexpected” two-year-old is a spin-off from Ewell’s legendary Dastaan, and is praised in numerous reports for chef Manish Sharma’s “extraordinary Indian cuisine at fair prices”: “big, complex punches of flavour but all nicely balanced”. On the downside, ratings are capped by the odd reporter who feels it’s “OK, but not quite as good as its reviews and reputation would suggest”.
