2024 Review: This wood-paneled “gem” occupying a seventeenth-century building, from the husband-and-wife team of chef Andrew Moss & FOH Karen Milne, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year – the “exceptional cooking and wine list are a joy”. We’ve rated it on relatively thin feedback – more reports please.

2022 Review: This “little piece of France” – down to the terrace under a red awning along the streetfront – has earned a strong local reputation over more than a decade as a haven of classic Gallic cuisine.

2021 Review: Set up in 2007 by Slow Food aficionado Graeme Pallister, who trained at Kinloch House Hotel and the restaurant at Gleneagles, this elevated Scottish dining room, on the western banks of the Tay, remains a Perth gem that’s “exceptional value early evening”.

Part of the Relais & Châteaux empire, a “lovely hotel with restaurant to match” that stands on 25 acres of parkland in prime shooting country – it’s “always a pleasure to revisit this traditional grand house and soak up the comfort in several lovely lounges and also the well-stocked bar”. Top Menu Tip – “the smoked salmon and the beef remain far and away the things to eat here”.

In a Victorian railway hotel relaunched two years ago by brothers Chris & Andy Rowley, “this restaurant makes excellent use of produce from the same owners’ nearby Ballintaggart Farm”, where they operate a cook school. We rated it on limited feedback, all of it good.

“This real gem” on Auchterarder’s high street has just celebrated 25 years’ serving “fine food at good value for money”. It’s “a short drive from Gleneagles” – where “lovely friendly owners” Jon (chef) and Fernanda Lewin used to work – so “you must go when staying”, but “booking is advised because it is small”.
