Featured Perth And Kinross Restaurants
1. The Glenturret Lalique Restaurant
Scottish restaurant in Crieff
The Glenturret Distillery, The Hosh - PH7
“An interesting venue in beautiful countryside” – this Lalique-branded two-year-old is sited within Scotland’s oldest working distillery, and has quickly won recognition for its extremely ambitious tasting menu (at £195 per person). For those in striking distance of Crieff, it can be “a perfect and special place for a business lunch – there’s good spacing between the tables; discreet but efficient service” plus of course “great whisky and wines” to complement the cuisine.
2. Aran Bakery
Sandwiches, cakes, etc restaurant in Dunkeld
2 Atholl Street - PH8
2022 Review: Great British Bake-Off’s youngest ever contestant, Flora Shedden (then just 19) runs this artisan bakery, housed in what was a derelict 200-year-old building in the heart of the community, and recently opened another venture across the road: well worth a visit should you be passing through on your way to the Highlands…
3. The North Port
British, Modern restaurant in Perth
8 North Port - PH1
This wood-paneled “gem” occupying a seventeenth-century building, from the husband-and-wife team of chef Andrew Moss & FOH Karen Milne, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year – the “exceptional cooking and wine list are a joy”. We’ve rated it on relatively thin feedback – more reports please.
4. Cafe Tabou
French restaurant in Perth
4 St John's Pl - PH1
2022 Review: This “little piece of France” – down to the terrace under a red awning along the streetfront – has earned a strong local reputation over more than a decade as a haven of classic Gallic cuisine.
5. 63 Tay Street
Scottish restaurant in Perth
63 Tay St - PH2
2021 Review: Set up in 2007 by Slow Food aficionado Graeme Pallister, who trained at Kinloch House Hotel and the restaurant at Gleneagles, this elevated Scottish dining room, on the western banks of the Tay, remains a Perth gem that’s “exceptional value early evening”.
6. Kinloch House
Scottish restaurant in Blairgowrie
“Always a pleasure, combining excellence all round” – this luxurious, family Relais & Châteaux property (built in 1840) has long been a mainstay of the surrounding area, with its “assured cooking of quality ingredients, particularly excellent meat”.
7. The Grandtully Hotel by Ballintaggart
Scottish restaurant in Grandtully
You’ll pay “London prices but it’s worth it” as “quality shines through” at this “just lovely” restaurant in a newly relaunched 1866 railway hotel, now run by nearby Ballintaggart Farm cookery school. “There’s some imaginative cooking here and good use of local and foraged ingredients”, along with “very knowledgeable and friendly staff” – although “the bar has more atmosphere and better acoustics than the dining room”.
8. Jon & Fernanda's
British, Modern restaurant in Auchterarder
34 High Street - PH3
“Beautifully prepared, super tasting food from local producers” is on the menu at this “small restaurant on Auchterarder’s high street”, which makes a “great choice for dinner out one night” for guests holidaying at the nearby Gleneagles hotel (J&F are “former employees”). “I just wish this was on our local high street – we’d be there every week!”.
