Featured Prestatyn Restaurants
1. Lawns Grill, Thornton Hall Hotel & Spa
International restaurant in Thornton Hough
Neston Rd - CH63
2023 Review: A lot of water has passed under the bridge since 2019 when Boris Johnson and former Irish Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, met for crunch post-Brexit talks at this posh hotel & spa out on the Wirral. On limited feedback, ratings for its grill are good all-round, but more plaudits go to the rather dramatically named ‘Great Wirral Afternoon Tea’ – a “well thought-out offering with good choice of sweet or savoury options” that’s “particularly nice on the terrace or lawn”.
2. Lino’s
Italian restaurant in Hoylake
122 Market Street - CH47
2022 Review: A fixture of dining on the Wirral through four decades – “it’s been there for years” – the Galantini family’s Italian-inspired venue is as reliable as ever and “Enrico’s interesting food is always worth a try”. Long the head chef, he has now taken over management from his parents, Lino & Barbara, but regulars will be pleased to know that “the particularly good specialities such as Avocado Barbara” (avocado peeled, stuffed with prawns, covered with cream cheese and deep-fried in breadcrumbs) are still on the menu.
3. Burnt Truffle
British, Modern restaurant in Heswall
104-106 Telegraph Road - CH60
“A top Sunday roast” is but one attraction of Gary Usher’s Wirral fixture – the original follow-up to Chester’s Sticky Walnut, which opened in 2015 in this Grade-II sandstone building; and which follows the format of its predecessor. Most reports rate its appealing modern bistro cuisine between “very good” and “outstanding”, but ratings slipped a tad this year on the odd report of an “off night”.
4. Bryn Williams At Porth Eirias
East & Cent. European restaurant in Colwyn Bay
The Promenade, - LL29
“With a window seat, smart service and very reliable cooking, this is one of the better places to eat in North Wales”, is a generally agreed take on this outlet from high-profile Welsh chef Bryn WIlliams, in a modern beachside development owned by the local council. Although there’s a view that it’s “not a patch” on his more gastronomic Odette’s in London, it’s “clearly popular” and “even if the menu could be more exciting, it’s good at what it does”.
5. Dishes by Andy Sheridan
British, Modern restaurant in Prestatyn
194 High Street - LL19
From the owner of Liverpool’s 8. The restaurant offers a modern British menu designed for sharing, with a variety of hot, cold, and baked dishes, as well as Sunday roasts. The menu includes items such as Scallop Tikka, Stone Bass Teriyaki, and Duck with Cucumber and Hoisin. The restaurant will initially be open from Wednesday to Sunday.
