2023 Review: “A bustling Italian pizzeria with huge helpings of food like Mama makes” in the heart of the Lanes. “Comforting and joyous” – it provides “value-for-money pastas and pizzas and is ideal for outings with young family members”.

2023 Review: Raz Helalat has a strong track record in these parts (The Salt Room, Burnt Orange in Brighton, Coal Shed) so this new 80-cover Italian in a restored 1930s bank near the Pavilion is worth watching. The kitchen is to be run by Sardinian-born Mirella Pau, formerly of London’s Café Murano and Padella. Originally slated for mid 2022, by autumn a final opening date is still awaited.

2023 Review: “Great attention to detail is the hallmark of this Italian restaurant close to the seafront in Eastbourne”. Run by chef/patron, hospitality veteran Lorenzo Cinalli, it’s in a traditional mould and – according to a recent review from the Mail on Sunday’s Tom Parker Bowles “is one of those rare places that manages to combine the old school with the resolutely regional” including “spanking fresh turbot... up there with Scott’s, Wiltons or Bentley’s”.
