A new style of Sicilian artisan bakery/restaurant opens in Putney tomorrow. Soffice, on the South Circular road, serves home-cooked savoury and sweet pastries, brioches and breads, alongside pizzas, pasta dishes and Sicilian specialities such as arancini (deep-fried rice balls, pictured above in three flavours).
The all-day venture, set over two storeys with an outdoor terrace, is the brainchild of Giuseppe Tuttoilmondo, who has held management roles at Norma in Covent Garden, Zelman Meats and D&D London.
He says: “Soffice is a one-of-a-kind culinary adventure aiming to pioneer our ‘gastro-bakery’ offer in London. We hope to serve our guests a range of thoughtful and surprising dishes rooted in authenticity and sustainability, while enabling them to explore a new breed of Sicilian cuisine.”
