The Warehouse restaurant in Southport, which was always a standout in that part of the world, is to close after 20 years. Owned by Liverpool’s favourite son, footballer Steven Gerrard and entrepreneur Paul Adams, the brasserie is expected to shut on 6 April, according to the Southport Visitor.

Although always considered “stylish” with a “lively atmosphere” by our reporters, The Warehouse has garnered very little feedback of late. In fact, the last time it was included in the Harden’s UK guide was in 2010 – the year that Gerrard bought into the restaurant.

The footballer’s partner Adams, who owns the Vincent hotel on Lord Street, is expected to move the staff to a new Vincent cafe and cocktail bar venture in the centre of Liverpool. Matt Worswick, who became chef-director of the business in early 2014, has left to become executive chef at Thornton Hall hotel on the Wirral.
