Hammersmith pub joins Walmer Castle stable

Highly regarded Hammersmith independent The Carpenter’s Arms has been acquired by Jack Greenall, scion of the Lancashire brewing dynasty who also owns The Surprise near Chelsea Physic Garden and the Walmer Castle in Notting Hill.

In Black Lion Lane off the St Peter’s Square Regency enclave, the Carpenter’s is regularly listed in the annual Harden’s guide and is noted for food that is ambitious for a pub.

Jack says: “Characterful and timeless, The Carpenter’s Arms is a gem of a pub and makes for a very special addition to the Wren Pubs family. Wren Pubs is a people-first brand that focuses on community, quality and above all enjoyment.

While The Surprise and Walmer Castle were both heavily refurbed after he acquired them, Jack has indicated that he will preserve the interior of the Carpenter’s Arms. He is expected to introduce the guest speaker series that has been a regular feature at the first two Wren Pubs.
