Chef Robbie Lorraine has swapped a shipping container at Pop Brixton for a Grade II listed Jacobean manor house in Kent in one of the year’s most spectacular changes in workplace scenery.
South Londoner Robbie, who has cooked at Chelsea FC among other places, gained rave reviews for Only Food and Courses, the retro-inspired pop-up he opened in Brixton in 2020 serving a ‘cheeky twist on classic British food’.
Next week he makes his debut at Boys Hall, a creeper-clad property near Ashford reopening after a three-year restoration as a boutique country house hotel. Here, there is nothing cheeky about the cuisine.
“We are not just somewhere to stay, we will be a full body sensory experience showcasing the very best Kent has to offer”, the website boasts. “Our team of chefs want to inspire and engage you about the varied landscapes, flora and fauna in our stunning new oak framed restaurant. Boys Hall is somewhere that lives and breathes the Garden of England showcasing seasonal produce.”
