Popular Shoreditch brunch spot Penkul & Banks has closed just six months after it first opened. The cafe-restaurant launched on the former site of Beard to Tail in Curtain Road this summer and was consistently busy at weekends when bottomless prosecco and Bloody Marys were the order of the day.
Indeed our reporters noted that you “must book” for Penkul & Bank’s breakfast/brunch menu – the usual ‘sharing plates served in any order’ ubiquitous to East London restaurants these days. Perhaps this popularity simply didn’t extend to weekday bookings?
The restaurant website says the team behind Penkul & Banks is planning new ventures in London.
