The ‘kitchen table’ sometimes seem to have become almost an industry standard. The latest restaurant to install a counter where foodies can perch and watch the chefs at work is the Merchants Tavern in Shoreditch.
Launched by Angela Hartnett, Neil Borthwick, Dominic Lake and Patrick Clayton-Malone, in October last year, the restaurant’s Kitchen Counter will be available for bookings from 10 June. The 10-seater table offers diners ‘direct access’ to head chef Borthwick’s kitchen so they can be ‘part of the action through service’ (whatever that means).
Groups of 2-10 people can book a spot at the Kitchen Counter, which offers a ‘chef’s menu’ created on the day, as well as the à la carte menu. The set menus are priced at £50 for 5 courses (£80 including paired wines), or £65 (£100) for 7.
For reservations please call 020 7060 5335 or email booking@merchantstavern.co.uk.
