Veteran Holland Park restaurant Julie’s, which closed down a year ago, is to be brought back to life next year as a neighbourhood brasserie. The new owner is Cordon Bleu-trained Tara MacBain, who lives nearby and is a former regular.
Julie’s was famous as a louche hotspot in the Seventies, drawing a celebrity clientele from the area and beyond, although it has had a more chequered history in recent times, with closures and relaunches.
Its latest incarnation is trailed to feature an all-day menu, seafood towers and a Martini trolley bringing cocktails to your table.
Another former hotspot, pan-Asian restaurant Gilgamesh, is also being revived – this time in the heart of the West End, in the former Tredwells site in St Martin’s Lane. The original in Camden closed down five years ago, having made quite a splash in the Noughties.
