Chef Paul Foster’s debut London venue GrassFed opened this week in a reclaimed Camden railway arch – a far cry from the historic timbered premises of his acclaimed restaurant Salt in Stratford-upon-Avon.
As the name suggests, GrassFed showcases British beef and other meat, with a particular focus on ethical sourcing, sustainability and regenerative farming techniques. Much of the top-quality meat, along with day-boat fish, is cooked over coals, and there is also an interesting drinks list including British spirits and organic wines from England and elsewhere.
Salt, which Paul opened in 2017 after raising £100,000 in a crowdfunding campaign, is hailed in the 2023 Harden’s UK guide for its “phenomenal, truly inspiring food”, which earns the highest possible rating of 5. Its signature dish is carrots cooked in chicken fat.
GrassFed occupies two storeys at Hawley’s Wharf in Camden Market, with both counter and canal-side dining available.
