The Coconut Tree, which focuses on affordable Sri Lankan street food, is opening a third site in Bristol. The concept is one to watch having established itself already in Cheltenham and Oxford.
The new 80-cover restaurant will start serving today (Friday October 5) on Gloucester Road, The Caterer noted in a listing. Expect dishes such as spicy battered cuttlefish, cheesy Colombo, Jaffna goat curry with potato, and egg hoppers with sambal.
Fourth site in November
Ceylon Arrack – a Sri Lankan spirit made from fermented coconut sap – is the focal point to a fairly expansive cocktail menu full of fiery spices and tropical fruits.
The Coconut Tree has won numerous West Country accolades over the past year, while in 2017, the brand got a ‘cheap eats’ runner up spot in the Observer Food Monthly awards.
There’s a fourth restaurant opening, also in Bristol, slated for November.
