Hirst gallery hosts pop-up for Frieze week

A pair of young chefs are launching a pop-up called ‘Pario’ at Damien Hirst’s Newport Street Gallery in Vauxhall next week, taking over the space left empty since the closure of Mark Hix’s Pharmacy 2 three years ago.

George Brown, a private chef with plenty of pop-up experience, and Charlie Bryant, who has worked at the Grill at the Dorchester and Alyn Williams at the Westbury, will be cooking from Wednesday to Saturday (9-12 October), coinciding with Frieze Art Fair when a lot of international art lovers are in town.

Charlie said: “George and I have decided to bring a huge British produce focus into Pario. We have huge passion for the beautiful produce we have here in the UK, showcasing the finest of ingredients such as wild turbot, hand-dived scallops and ex-dairy Angus ribeye. It’s super-tasty food which isn’t messed with, just straight-up amazing produce, cooked simply but perfectly, with a sauce or a small garnish.”

Meanwhile, one of the restaurants closest to Frieze in Regent’s Park – Honey & Smoke, at the top of Great Portland Street – is channelling the art mood by co-hosting an exhibition on its walls in conjuction with October Gallery, featuring the work of artists LR Vandy and Kenji Yoshida.
