Exmouth Market’s “porktastic” destination Blackfoot has had a makeover – complete with new name, menu and layout. Now renamed Blackfoot Bar & Backroom Dining, the restaurant’s front room retains its “greasy-spoon feel” but will be used as a casual bar serving cocktails, beers and ciders on tap and a selection of wines. At the back is the dining room, open midday-3 pm and 5.30-10.30 pm.
The restaurant menu has been redesigned with non-carnivores in mind as well as pork fans – hopefully without diluting the appeal of revelling in an unadulterated pork-fest. Head chef Roberto Freddi has devised the new dishes alongside chef/patron Allegra McEvedy.
On the menu: Classics like The Long Smoke and Ibérico Presa and newcomers like chargrilled wild king prawns with aioli; fritto misto of seasonal veg; beetroot falafel with dukkah, Lincolnshire poacher with Allegra’s new season’s marmalade, and chicken shashlik with sumac, lemon and cumin.
