The Pig’s Head, billed as a “pro-planet pub” with sustainability at the top of its mission statement, opens next Wednesday, 8th November, in Clapham Old Town.
Produce will come from regenerative farmers, with butchery performed on-site, while wine, spirits and beers will be sourced from sustainable production. The refurb has used up-cycled or recycled fixtures and fittings, the electricity used is 100% sustainable and all cleaning materials are biodegradable. To cap it all, food waste will be composted and donated to local allotments.
If this all sounds terribly right-on, the fact that the Pig’s Head comes from the team behind three north London gastropubs well-known for providing good-time dining – Islington’s Smokehouse and Pig & Butcher, and the Princess of Shoreditch – should offer reassurance.
