None of our readers go for the décor, but then that’s not what chippies are about. It’s the “spankingly fresh” fish and chips that attract diners to Kerbisher & Malt, the growing chain of chip shops about to launch its fifth London site.

Kerbisher & Malt EC1 will open in foodie hub Exmouth Market on Rosebery Avenue later this month, with a 50% off soft launch offer for the first week from 20-25 January.

Over the past four years the chain has expanded south from Shepherd’s Bush and Ealing to Richmond and Clapham, and now they are moving east to Clerkenwell. With just 12-covers and an emphasis on takeaway, Kerbisher & Malt EC1 will be the first in a planned roll-out of smaller shops. The menu is somewhat reduced but there will be lunch time specials and online ordering for office workers.
