Food charity Hospitality Against Hunger is launching a new fundraiser event on September 11.
Love Food Streat Festival will be hosted on Flat Iron Square, and will kickstart the annual Love Food Give Food campaign, which works to end child hunger around the world. More than 400 restaurants across the UK will add £1 to guests’ bills to raise money.
At the festival launch, a long list of top chefs will be cooking to drum up support and awareness. The line-up includes Nieves Barragán Mohacho (Sabor, London Chef of the year 2018), Tom Anglesea (The Laughing Heart, Great British Menu winner), Chase Lovecky (Two Lights), Robin Gill (The Dairy, Sorella and Darby’s), Nud Dudhia (Breddos Tacos), and Karan Gokani (Hoppers). Peter Gordon (Crosstown Doughnuts) and Jacob Kenedy (Gelupo) have also created a dessert collaboration for the night.
Other brands on board are Gunpowder, Laffa, Tapas Revolution, Rosa’s Thai Cafe, Shake Shack, and Bar Douro in collaboration with Snapery bakery.
Barragan said: “For me, food is everything. It is family, it is friendship, it is joy. But for far too many people food is a source of anxiety and fear. They don’t know where the next meal is coming from or whether their child will go to bed hungry.
“I witnessed, first-hand, the incredible work that Action Against Hunger is undertaking and the hope it is bringing to so many people. Joining this campaign is a small thing that we can do, but the impact is massive.”
Pandora Christie (Heart FM) will be providing entertainment with a DJ set, and Tom Best (Christie’s youngest ever auctioneer) will host an auction. Drinks come from Taittinger and bars will serve beers, wines and cocktails throughout the evening.
Tickets are £35 (which includes a choice of three dishes, a drink and snacks) or £65 (which includes six dishes of your choice, three drinks and snacks) and can be purchased here.
