Finally, a report that’s topped the ‘rumours and hearsay’ section on our Coming Soon page since February has been verified. Yotam Ottolenghi is definitely to open a City-fringe outpost of his Ottolenghi cafés.

This will be the restaurateur’s fifth café/deli, with sites already in Islington, Notting Hill, Kensington and Knightsbridge, as well as his Nopi restaurant in Soho. The new Ottolenghi, opening in Artillery Passage, Spitalfields, next spring, will takeover from Eat & Drink Chinese – a rather rowdy restaurant and karaoke bar of long standing.
