Dishoom is opening a new branch in Birmingham in the spring of next year.
The group will be filling a site at a new development on Chamberlain Square in the city centre.
Dishoom previously earmarked the site for its new restaurant, and the move has been far from a secret. But the company this week confirmed the venture.
Co-founders Shamil and Kavi Thakrar said they are “delighted” to be moving to Birmingham and will explore the historic ties between Mumbai and England’s ‘second city’.
The restaurant will, as all others do, pay loving homage to the old Irani cafés that were once part of the fabric of life in Bombay.
Dishoom shows no sign of faltering amid its expansion. It might be down to the gentle pace at which it is seeking out new ventures.
