Country pub The Bildeston Crown is hosting a series of summer events in celebration of Suffolk’s food producers and chefs.
Suffolk has long been a favourite of food lovers. The Suffolk Wool Towns, whose heritage stretches back to the 15 century, provide a rustic idyll to the region’s food and culture.
Hardens says: “For ‘creative and sound cooking’ that’s ‘very good value’ too, this genteel Suffolk coaching inn is just the ticket – especially since the return of original husband-and-wife team Chris & Hayley Lee after a short break”
Bildeston is one of them, and it’s there you’ll fine The Bildeston Crown, a former coaching inn with high-end dining and accommodation.
Now, the kitchen is serving the best of what’s in season, with English asparagus, Jersey Royals, peas and rhubarb at their best – and freshest.
This June, the pub, which has a been well reported by our Harden’s diners over the years, is putting on a series of special deals, including barbecues and Italian-wine dinners with discounts on rooms in the bed and breakfast.
Here’s what’s in store:
– Weekend Stay special: Two nights (Fri/Sat) bed & breakfast, dinner allowance for one night of £30 per person – and £250 per room.
– Sunday Sharing: For tables of four or six, an informal family lunch offering of a sharing platter for diners to serve themselves. The roast in June is a Suffolk chicken.
– June 21: A four-course dinner matched with Sicilian Colomba Bianca wines – for £49 pp. Wine expert Marisa Leo will be on hand to guide diners through the vintages.
