A new izakaya fusing Korean, Japanese and Taiwanese cuisines is due to open on 28 March on the 23rd floor of London’s Hilton Metropole near Edgware Road station. KOJAWAN (Korea, Japan, Taiwan – geddit?!) will offer fantastic views of the capital, as well as innovative dishes from Seoul, Tokyo and Taipei.
Early bird diners who book a table for lunch or dinner from Monday 28 March-Friday 1 April (inclusive) will get 50% off food. The soft launch offer is available for direct bookings only via 020 8088 0111.
The menu has been devised by chefs Bjorn Van Der Horst (formerly of Greenhouse and Noisette) and Omar Romero (a graduate of Rhodes Twenty Four).
Dishes include: Rice-sandwiches; glazed-lobster-dog & sesame-seaweed ponzu; popcorn prawns & liquorice-fish sauce; crab-turnip ‘egg cake’; crispy Shiso leaf bun. KOJAWAN’s own version of Eton mess with lychee-green tea meringue and sake cream.
The restaurant also apparently features Europe’s first Kirin beer and raw bar, including the signature ‘K-slurpy’ a cold beer with a frozen top. A service crew will even dispatch drinks from bespoke airline trollies orbiting tables.
