Steve Love’s Birmingham canal-side venture into fine dining is to close on 31 May after six years. Though Loves has always been “difficult to find” it was considered well worth the extra effort by our reporters for “first-class” cuisine that’s “inventive without being faddish”.
The “outstanding” list of drinks “from UK-centric bubbles to local liqueurs” was of particular note too.
Love and his wife Claire moved their Warwickshire venture to Birmingham’s city centre in 2009 and was a regular feature in the Sunday Times Top 100 UK restaurant list (powered by Harden’s).
Chef-patron Love decided not to renew the release on the Browning Street building at the end of its six-year tenure, instead he plans to concentrate on Loves Consultancy, which offers advice to independent restaurants.
