Forza Win, the former pop-up serving simple but delicious Italian meals in a Peckham warehouse which closed down after a row with the landlord two years ago, is to reopen in September. It will take over the vacant site in Camberwell Church Street formerly home to Angels and Gypsies.
The same group operates Forza Wine, a bar serving pretty serious “snacks” on the top floor of a nearby co-working space, so many of the original staff are still on board.
Founded by Bash Redford and Michael Lavery, Forza Win has led a peripatetic existence, bouncing from the Truman Brewery in Shoreditch to the Oval Space in Bethnal Green and stopping off at two pubs before alighting in Peckham.
It was known for its excellent (and good-value) pasta dishes, fun touches such as the espresso-flavoured “Custardo” dessert, and the enthusiasm of its staff. Shortly before it closed, the 2020 Harden’s guide reported: “You feel the people working here really love what they do, and it shows in the seriously happy food.”
