A self-proclaimed ‘New York Italian’ restaurant, The Dover, has opened with little fanfare in Mayfair from Martin Kuczmarski, former chief operating officer at Soho House.
It occupies the former site of the short-lived Moncks of Mayfair in Dover Street. Moncks closed during the pandemic in 2020 and never reopened.
The Dover’s menu features a range of Italian classics supplemented by American-accented dishes – from a ‘New York pig in blanket’ to lobster roll, USDA prime beefsteak tartare with truffle, spaghetti meatballs, Caesar salad, ‘Italian sausage pie’ and a house burger with fries.
The cocktail list features a wide range of Martinis, while the wine list features bottles from both Italy and US, supplemented by Champagne and more from France.
