Chewton Glen, the luxury country house hotel on the edge of the New Forest, launches its new cookery school and informal restaurant The Kitchen next week.
The new-build open-plan venue, under chef Adam Hart, will serve wood-fired pizzas, burgers, “superfood” salads and comfort-food classics from Tuesday March 14. There is an emphasis on local sourcing of cheeses and charcuterie, with fish from the nearby south coast, and herbs and vegetables grown in Chewton’s grounds.
The adjacent 12-station cookery school, directed by chef and former Saturday Kitchen television host James Martin, opens on April 1. Some of Martin’s signature dishes will show up on the menu, too.
Chewton Glen consistently wins glowing reports from the Harden’s Survey for its style, comfort and high standards – balanced by complaints about the prices. The Kitchen should enable visitors to sample its attractions without taking out a second mortgage – the starting price for pizzas is £10, with burgers from £12.
