The team behind the Pelican in Notting Hill and the Bull in Charlbury this week opened their second London pub, the Hero in Maida Vale.
New owners Phil Winser and James Gummer of the Public House Group have stripped the 1878 building down to its original features, leaving much of the interior bare.
The ground floor operates as a standard pub with a menu of “nostalgic British food” such as sausages & mash and shepherd’s pie, while the first-floor Grill Room has an open grill serving meat and fish, with chef Ed Baillieu running the kitchen. The second floor Library offers “classic cocktails and bartender-in-residence nights”, and there is also a private events space.
The pub was recently known as The Hero of Maida, with a menu by chef Henry Harris.
