Star chef James Knappett has teamed up with his backers JKS (Gymkhana, Hoppers) and publican Dominic Jacobs (The Running Horse, Mayfair) to open their second London pub in the space of six months.
The George in Fitzrovia is a beautifully restored grand Victorian Grade II-listed pub with an Italianate corner site frontage. It is open now for drinks and bar food, although guests will have to wait until February to sample the delights of the upstairs dining room.
Likewise, the Cadogan Arms in King’s Road Chelsea, which the same team opened in the summer, is a classic 200-year-old pub which has been luxuriously upcycled and equipped with an imaginatively spivved-up take on a gastropub menu.
Knappett celebrates the tenth anniversary of his much-lauded Kitchen Table in Fitzrovia next year, having recently extended it to take over the space formerly occupied by his partner Sandia Chang’s Bubbledogs hot dog and grower Champagne bar.
