Vinoteca will open its latest wine bar and restaurant on Monday in the new Borough Yards development, adjacent to Borough Market. It will occupy two storeys in a red-brick Victorian railway arch, with views across to Southwark Cathedral.
The venue will champion small, independent and innovative wineries, including its own Rodney & The Horse, which produces both a riesling and a shiraz, wild-fermented and from a single-vineyard in Australia’s Clare Valley. Elsewhere, Crystal Croatina Pet Nat (2020) is from grapes
picked in northern Italy but made by Renegade Urban Winery in Bethnal Green.
Food will be prepared in an open kitchen and feature seasonal ingredients, many of them sourced from Borough Market. Meals and bar snacks will be served throughout the day from breakfast.
It is the sixth venue in the modern Mediterranean-style wine bar group launched 17 years ago in Farringdon by Brett Woonton and Charlie Young. It was followed by branches in the City, King’s Cross, Marylebone and Chiswick.
