The de Visscher family will open a branch of The Seafood Bar in Soho, their first international outpost.
The 190-cover restaurant will be in a Grade II-listed Georgian townhouse at 77 Dean Street in Soho and follows four sites in The Netherlands which are based in Amsterdam and Utrecht.
The menu will include ‘fruits de mer’ platters, fish and chips, and grilled fish, with Ruinart Champagne, Austrian Grüner Veltliner, and Provençal rosé on the drinks list.
The group said it always looks to maintain close relationships with producers to ensure all seafood is sourced ethically and sustainably. The business, which was founded in 1984, has also committed to run its restaurants on wind energy and with a zero food waste policy.
The De Visscher family said: “It’s our dream to bring our guests incredible seafood, and we are living that dream. We fell in love with London a long time ago, and we’re very excited we’ve finally arrived.”
The Seafood Bar founding family is made up of Fons de Visscher and his children Pepijn and Fleur. Fons de Visscher worked as a fishmonger in Helmond for 27 years before opening the first Seafood Bar restaurant in Amsterdam in 2012.
