Well-travelled sommelier Yukiyasu Kaneko has opened a wine bar/restaurant in a Hackney railway arch that specialises in rare and high-quality natural wines.
Yuki began his career in Tokyo and has worked around the world, with stints at Noma in Copenhagen and P. Franco in East London. He has also studied winemaking in Oregon, and last year helped ex-Koya chef Junya Yamasaki launch his restaurant Yess in Los Angeles.
Bar Yuki, near London Fields, is his first solo venture and he describes his offer as “a very considered selection of the world’s best natural wines where customers can try rare bottles.”
The wines are accompanied by a daily changing menu of Spanish and Italian-inspired small plates, using seasonal sustainable ingredients from British producers.
Bar Yuki can accommodate about 20 diners, and is open to walk-ins only from Wednesday to Sunday.
