Bringing a touch of the beach to London this summer is Burger Shack at The Windmill in Clapham. Publican Young’s have completely revamped the outdoor space, installing a ‘Shepherd’s Hut’ with views over the Common and reclaimed timber tables and benches.
On the menu: The Classic – British beef burger topped with cheese, Young’s ale onions and pickles in a soft bun with ketchup and mayonnaise; The Streaky (topped with Dingley Dell streaky maple bacon); The Chilli Pulled Pork (green chilli-spiced slow-cooked pulled pork); and The Veggie (beetroot, almond and lentil hash burger topped with goats’ cheese and Young’s ale onions).
All the beef is sourced from from West Country farms while the pork comes from Dingley Dell and Essex Freedom Food. All burgers are served in brioche buns with curly fries.
Those who living in FOMO (fear of missing out) need not worry as Young’s have launched a mobile Burger Shack – coming soon to a festival or pub near you.
They will even be at Thomasin Miers’s The Franklin Fork to Fork event on 13 June – a fundraiser for Ark Franklin (a local primary school in Kensal Green) with food by Wahaca, Polpo, Caravan, Hix Restaurants, Dirty Burger and Soho House among others. It will also be at Grillstock Bar-BBQ and Music Festival in Walthamstow on 5 and 6 September and at the Alexander Pope pub in Twickenham for all the Rugby World Cup home games.
