The Larder, a new 35-cover all-day café and food store based in the heart of Fitzrovia’s Pearson Square, opened on Wednesday 17 February. The café will serve everything from hearty breakfasts to lunchtime toasties and healthy snacks, to eat in or take away. The menus were created by Open House’s exec chef Diego Cardoso (who also oversees the nearby Percy & Founders) and his team.
The Larder serves its own branded coffee created by Reads Coffee Roasters, a Dorset-based family-run roaster.
There’s also a range of handpicked Teahouse Exclusives infusions and a selection of energising concoctions from current king-of-the-cold-press, Juiceman. Find flavours like “Alkalize” (apple, cucumber, kale & spinach) and “Purify” (beetroot, apple, carrot, celery & ginger).
On the breakfast menu: Super fruit salad with coconut; chia seed pots with mixed berries; and toasted breakfast sandwiches filled with everything from a Full English to spinach, ricotta & mushroom. Sweet-toothed customers are spoilt with a selection of pastries and Diego’s signature freshly baked cinnamon rolls. Available from 7.30 am Monday-Friday and 9 am on Saturdays.
For lunch there’s: Fresh salads, with or without protein-rich toppings such as steamed salmon & lime, grilled free-range chicken and British roast beef; savoury tarts; house-made sausage rolls and sandwiches. Salads such as beetroot and feta, burrata & crushed avocado and green veggies.
Customers will also find St John’s famous, freshly baked doughnuts filled with fresh custard or seasonally changing jams; as well as plum jam cheesecake and chocolate mousse with honeycomb. The Larder is also a food store where you can pick up freshly made pasta, olive oils, charcuterie and jams, artisan sourdough bread from Hedone and European cheese from trendy Marylebone cheesemonger La Fromagerie.
