Highly regarded chef Chris Denney is back in action, preparing to open a new restaurant called Fantomas on Chelsea’s King’s Road in early July.
Chris made a big impact with his high-octane cooking at Fiend and before that 108 Garage, both off Portobello Road. He is backed on this new venture by George Bukhov-Weinstein and Ilya Demichev, the restaurateurs behind Goodman. The duo are also behind southern Mediterranean-inspired Lita in Marylebone, which opened to rave reviews this spring.
The cooking at Fantomas is billed as “modern European with an eye on Asia – particularly Japan – rooted in the seasons, Chris is pathological about produce“. It is taking over former site of wine bar/restaurant 28-50.
Fiend, which closed after little more than a year in November 2022, earned a 5/5 food rating in the Harden’s guide for Chris’s “crazy combinations that taste sensational“.
