A Victorian-style restaurant and piano bar The Piano Works opens in Clerkenwell in July on the corner of Farringdon Road and Ray Street. The rather unique-sounding space features two live pianists and accompanying musicians playing requests from the audience.
Located in the basement of a listed Victorian warehouse, the 400-capacity venue seeks to revive the saloon concerts in pubs that preceded the famous Victorian Music Halls. It is the brainchild of restaurateur Alan Lorrimer and musical director Andy Johnson.
The Piano Works will offer a long list of cocktails as well as a food menu. Chef Fedja Stanic heads up the kitchen after shelving plans to open his own eponymous pop-up to join Piano Works.
