The team behind highly rated Islington desi pub The Tamil Prince has opened a follow-up nearby. The Tamil Crown has taken over the former Charles Lamb pub on Elia Street, near Angel station.
The Tamil Prince is hailed as “truly brilliant” in the newly published Harden’s 2024 London restaurant guide, and was one of the most talked-about openings of 2022 with its “expertly spiced and oh-so-moreish” food by ex-Roti King chef Prince Durairaj.
The guide also reports that reservations have to be made four weeks in advance – which might explain the rush to add a second outlet not far away.
The Tamil Crown opened yesterday (16 November) with a menu showcasing popular dishes from the Prince such as okra fries, onion bhaji and chicken lollipops, alongside new additions. There will also be Sunday roasts with both British and Indian-style trimmings, while drinks range from cask beers by Purity Brewing and wine on tap from Unchartered Wines to bottled cocktails from Three Sheets bar in Dalston.
