Honey & Co, the small cafe-restaurant in Fitzrovia that helped propel the popularisation of Middle Eastern cuisine in London, is closing down after 10 years following the landlord’s refusal to extend its lease.
Israeli-born couple Sarit Parker and Itamar Svrulovich, both alumni of the original Ottolenghi in Notting Hill, launched Honey & Co to general acclaim in 2012, and followed up its success with a grillhouse nearby, a deli on the opposite site of Warren Street, four cookbooks, a podcast and a regular column in the Financial Times.
Famous for its breakfasts and cakes, the restaurant remains hugely popular with its legion of fans, although the early excitement at the novel tastes on offer has largely transferred to their grill, Honey & Smoke in Great Portland Street, which wins top marks for its food in our latest 2022 Harden’s guide.
There is no word as yet on whether the couple are looking to reopen Honey & Co at a new site.
