Anne-Sophie Pic, hailed as the world’s greatest female chef, opens her first restaurant in Britain, La Dame de Pic, in the City of London next Thursday, January 26.
She became only the fourth woman to earn a third Michelin star when the accolade was bestowed 10 years ago on her family restaurant, Maison Pic in Valence, southeastern France.
Maison Pic was founded in 1889 by her great-grandfather Eugene Pic and his wife Sophie, winning and losing multiple stars as it passed through three generations. Anne-Sophie opened a second restaurant in Lausanne, Switzerland, and a third, also called La Dame de Pic, in Paris five years ago.
The new London venture is inside the new Four Seasons hotel at Ten Trinity Square, with its own entrance directly onto the street. It will offer a casual version of Pic’s cuisine, and is modelled on a smart Paris bistro. Pic is the second garlanded French female chef to open in London – Hélène Darroze has run a restaurant in the Connaught in Mayfair since 2008.
Mme Pic has also accepted the appointment as honorary president of judges for the 2017 Roux Scholarship, working alongside joint chairmen Alain and Michel Roux junior to selected a chef scholar for placement in a top French kitchen.
