The first chefs have been announced for this autumn’s Meatopia food festival at Tobacco Dock, and the lineup reads like a roll call of those responsible for London’s current craze for BBQ and all things meat.
Hakwsmoor’s Richard Turner, The Lockhart’s Brad McDonald, and Ross Clarke from Dirty Bones will be participating in the festival, which sees chefs showing off their skills with the cleaver and grill to the sound of DJ sets and bluegrass. There will also be dishes being served up from the likes of surf ‘n’ turf shack Big Easy and Icelandic burger joint Tommi’s Burger.
Meatopia is (unsurprisingly) an American invention – the brainchild of food writer Josh Ozersky, who started the festival in New York 11 years ago. Last year was its first London event, which saw the appearance of chefs from Pitt Cue Co and St John. This year’s festival will include cooking from international chefs such as Andre Lima de Luca, of São Paulo’s BOS BBQ.
Meatopia is on 6-7 September 2014 at Tobacco Dock. Tickets £30 per day, £55 for whole weekend; available here.
