Rick Stein is offering a menu at 1975 prices to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Seafood Restaurant in Padstow. The menu features starters and desserts priced in pence, with shellfish soup at 50p, ragout de coquilles St Jacques et turbot a la crème de basilic at 65p and raspberry bavarois for 30p, while the most expensive main-course dish is grilled lobster costing £2.80.
The offer covers a limited number of tables for lunch from Thursday 6 February to Sunday 9 February at the Seafood Restaurant and four of its offshoots: Barnes in southwest London, Winchester, Marlborough and Sandbanks. Booking opens at 10am on this Friday, 24 January, with reservations expected to sell out fast.
Rick famously launched the Seafood Restaurant after losing his licence to run a nightclub on the same premises. Boosted by his emergence as a roving TV chef in the 1980s and 90s, the restaurant became the flagship of a group that currently comprises eight venues and is now largely run by his former wife Jill and their sons Edward, Jack and Charles.
It’s fastest finger first on this one as there are a limited number of lunch bookings available. Reservations go live on Friday 24th January at 10am and bookings must be made through this link only: www.rickstein.com/the-seafood-restaurant-50/rolled-back-menu/
