Just over six months after opening a restaurant in Clapham, only to see it close weeks later over a rental dispute, chef Damian Wawrzyniak has returned to London to oversee Salt Flakes in Twickenham.
Wawrzyniak told Harden’s his primary focus will still be on his Peterborough restaurant House of Feasts, but that he has been brought in to redevelop the food at Salt Flakes and take charge of a redesign.
The Polish chef has introduced a new à la carte menu featuring dishes such as wild mushroom pappardelle and braised beef ribs with plum sauce.
After the disappointment of Wawryzniak’s first foray into the London dining scene – his Clapham spot Jan was open less than two months – the chef is hoping Salt Flakes, which opened in 2017 but has yet to make much of an impact, will allow him to blaze a brighter trail.
“I was looking to make my mark in London for long time and this is a great location for my food,” he told Harden’s.
“I am super excited. As well as à la carte, we are also creating a bar/lounge, with American pastrami sandwiches and toasties.
“The future is looking good!”
