Mobile gourmet chip specialist Saucy Chip is moving into a permanent home at the Jerusalem Bar and Kitchen in Fitzrovia on April 24.
For the past three years, it has operated as a posh chip van from the back of a classic red, white and blue Citroen at music festivals around the country.
Founded by former O2 arena marketing manager Jules Heaton, Saucy Chip relies on spuds grown by a fourth-generation Cheshire potato farmer. The chips are cut by hand and fried three times, to be served covered with homemade katsu curry sauce inspired by the Northern chip-shop classic.
Other toppings include 24-hour beef gravy with melted Red Leicester and Cheddar cheese. The menu also extends to free-range meat, poultry and charcuterie supplied by the Butcher’s Block, along with smoked haddock and cod fish balls with Cajun-inspired aioli.
Saucy Chip claims an impressive line-up of celeb fans, including Cara Delevingne, Noel Gallagher and Prince Harry.
