Paris House already enjoys “an absolutely fantastic setting” in a beautiful Tudor building within 22 acres of deer park on the Woburn Estate, so news that the grand dining room has been given some TLC and a new menu certainly has us excited to see how this culinary destination has been improved.
Chef-Patron Phil Fanning reopened the Tudor restaurant with the launch of a new six, eight and ten course tasting menu, which can come paired with matching wines. Fanning bought the restaurant with his wife Claire in 2013 and, following three successful years of business growth, has now invested further to bring the restaurant up to date. A guest questionnaire at the end of last year told the Fannings that the Paris House experience was very much loved, but the dining room would benefit from some TLC. The refurbishment includes structural and layout changes and a fabulous new design scheme.
The summer tasting menus include dishes like: Crispy tempura native Rock Oyster served with spiced tartare of hamachi and a dashi and plankton gel; salt baked, pickled and spaghetti of heirloom carrot with a cold pressing of carrot, dill seed and green carrot top; cured trout with a quinine sorbet served with crispy ginger and compressed cucamelons evokes the botanicals of gin with the essence of tonic; Playfully named ‘KFV’ – Paris House’s Kentucky Fried Veal Sweetbreads are smoky and rich with sun dried tomato, smoked onion and chipotle chillies.
Prices start at £43 per person for a six course lunch.
