Chef and writer Dipna Anand, from the dynasty behind Southall’s famous Indian restaurant Brilliant, is to open a 150-cover venue in Milton Keynes next month.
Dipna Anand Kitchen & Bar is in the new Unity Place development, and will have its own in-house micro-brewery operated by TOAST Ale. The venture is in association with the catering company Restaurant Associates, and will run alongside Dipna’s Indian street food operation in the urban food market at Unity Place.
The Kitchen & Bar will offer Punjabi and South Indian dishes, and will feature a ‘mega-grill’ for tikkas and chops. Dipna says: “It has a completely different feel to my previous site, but we’ll be serving some of my oldest family recipes.”
The Anands have been in the hospitality industry since the 1950s, when they opened their first restaurant in Nairobi before moving to Britain in the early 1970s. Brilliant, now co-owned by Dipna, launched in Southall in 1975 and soon established itself as a culinary leader in the area.
A previous Dipna Anand restaurant opened at Somerset House in central London in late 2021 but closed down earlier this year.
